Community Involvement

ACDHH strives to be a partner within the community. The Commission has been involved with numerous workgroups, task forces and has worked hand-in-hand with community organizations. By working together, we can continue reach new heights in making Arizona a national leader for hearing loss issues.

  • The Arizona Disability Advocacy Coalition (AzDAC) sponsored its annual Legislative Advocacy Training Day Feb. 5, 2008, 1:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. in Phoenix. 
  • The goals of this training included understanding the legislative process, how to advocate for legislation and how to prepare to meet with and then talk to Legislators. The agenda  included the legislative process, 2008 legislative issues and a mock legislative committee meeting.
  • This event was presented in conjunction with the Arizona Legislative Awareness Day on Feb. 6, 2008 at the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix.  For more information on the Feb. 6, 2008 event, go to www.azgcdd.org.

ACDHH Provides Interpreting Services for State Wide Legislative Debates
June 20 2008
For the first time in State history the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (ACDHH) in conjunction with the Citizens Clean Elections Commission will provide sign language interpreters at all primary and general election legislative debates throughout Arizona. The addition of sign language interpreters will empower people with hearing loss to participate freely in the election process. The first of 16 legislative debates will be Tuesday, June 24 in Goodyear.

The ACDHH Library Closed May 23rd - August 11th

The ACDHH office will be undergoing some remodeling that will impact our library. The library will be closed from May 23rd until August 11th.
