Welcome to ACDHH

ACDHH was established in 1977 to improve the quality of life for Deaf and Hard of Hearing residents. ACDHH serves as a statewide information referral center for issues related to people with hearing loss.

ACDHH aspires to be a national leader in communication access, support services and community empowerment throughout the state.

Why does Arizona need ACDHH?
  • Three out of 250 newborns are diagnosed with hearing loss
  • One out of 10 people experience hearing loss during their life
  • One out of three senior citizens have hearing loss
  • There are more than 500,000 Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals throughout the state

Mission Statement:

The purpose of the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (ACDHH) is to ensure, in partnership with the public and private sector, accessibility for the deaf and hard of hearing to improve their quality of life.

ACDHH Provides Interpreting Services for State Wide Legislative Debates
June 20 2008
For the first time in State history the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (ACDHH) in conjunction with the Citizens Clean Elections Commission will provide sign language interpreters at all primary and general election legislative debates throughout Arizona. The addition of sign language interpreters will empower people with hearing loss to participate freely in the election process. The first of 16 legislative debates will be Tuesday, June 24 in Goodyear.

The ACDHH Library Closed May 23rd - August 11th
